It is said that a hare and a tortoise were fast friends. They often sat and talked together. hare was very proud of his swiftness. He often boasted of his fast speed and cut jokes with the tortoise and taunted him for his slow speed. The constant taunts at the laziness of the tortoise on behalf of the hare offended him a lot.

As usual, the hare again made the tortoise the butt of his ridicule. The tortoise could not put up with the haughty attitude of the hare. He felt insulted and humiliated.
