A THIRSTY CROW
It was the month of the hot summer. Everybody felt discomfort and everything was burning with the blazing and scorching heat of the sun. Animals and birds looked for shade and water. Like all other birds, a crow was also feeling very thirsty. He was sitting all alone in a tree. He decided to quench his thirst at every cost. so he soared far and wide in quest of water but found it nowhere. As time went by. quench of thirst became an overwhelming obsession for him. But he did not lose heart and went on searching for water. He knew that there was no choice for him but to do or die. Either he would quench his thirst or die a miéerable death. so he decided tocontinue his struggle. Fortunately, he caught sight of a pitcher. He heaved a sigh Of relief. He at once flew to it. But to his disappointment and dismay, there was only a little water at the bottom of the pitcher. He made hectic efforts to drink water but
could not succeed because the water was too low for him to reach it. In spite of being a vortex of helplessness. he did not lose heart. urgent and pressing need forced him to find out some way to satisfy his want because there was no alternative. Luck favored the brave crow. He saw a heap of pebbles lying at some distance. A very
brilliant idea came to his mind. He was clever enough to make proper use of those pebbles. He started dropping pebbles one by one into the pitcher. Gradually. the water began to rise. His successive efforts bore fruit. The water rose to the brim Of the pitcher. Now it was within the reach of his beak. His joy knew no bounds. He drank the water to his' heart's content and flew away in a happy and jolly mood. The story teaches us a lesson that patience. courage and hope for survival make us successful. Everything can be achieved with untiring efforts constant struggle and steadfaétness.
