to my math teacher steps toward the

blackboard proving that if you continue

to have a distance between two points

you will never reach the end one I stood

two feet from the door then one foot

then six inches 0.5 from the onset of

forward motion the knife must have been

2 feet from the first point of entry I

had time to ask his mother why she has

had time to notice his new haircut his

basketball spinning forever in his hands

Oh point O six two five there are still

in the end, Adams shivering between us in

this way none of us ever really touch

and the blade hovers there forever and

my hand never slides across his casket

or holds the morning paper hot with his

perhaps zero
